Asbestos Awareness training is required for maintenance and custodial employees who come into contact with asbestos-containing material during the conduct of their work.

This course tackles the costly problem of back injury by providing practical instruction on back injury prevention as well as a variety of safe lifting techniques. We also address the challenges faced by the aging workforce and behavior modification.

Bloodborne Pathogens training is mandatory for employees who come in contact with blood or other potentially infectious material during the course of their work. Department Bloodborne Pathogen Program Representatives are responsible for arranging and/or conducting training for employees in their department. The training includes an explanation of the bloodborne pathogens standard; epidemiology, modes of transmission and symptoms of bloodborne diseases; explanation of the exposure control plan; control methods; personal protective equipment; hepatitis B vaccination program; emergency response; post-exposure procedures; warning labels and color coding; and department-specific information that relates to the plan.
Employees shall be trained regarding bloodborne pathogens at the time of initial assignment to tasks where exposure may occur and annually thereafter. Additional training shall be provided whenever there are changes in tasks or procedures that affect employee occupational exposure.

The goal of this course is to provide a basic understanding of compressed gas and safety in the workplace. It will review how to make sure compressed gasses are properly identified, the safe handling and use of compressed gases, how to store cylinders properly, and how to transport compressed gas cylinders safely.

Confined Space Entry training is required for employees involved in any aspect of confined space entry work. The training includes information on hazard recognition, personal protective equipment (PPE), safety equipment, communications equipment, procedures for calling rescue services, and proper use of rescue equipment.
- Training shall be performed before an employee is assigned duties in confined spaces. Retraining shall be conducted at least annually and whenever either the Department or our office has reason to believe that there are deviations from the University's permit-required confined space entry procedures or that there are inadequacies in the employee's knowledge or use of those procedures.

Any 桃花社区视频 staff or student who package biomedical waste into Curtis Bay supplied boxes or Red carts for shipment off-site for disposal and/or signs the Shipping paperwork is required under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to be trained on how to identify, package and security awareness.

Hazard Communication training is mandatory for all employees who work with hazardous chemicals in non-laboratory environments. The training covers the OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.1200, OSHA labeling requirements as well as the types of labels typically used by chemical manufactures and distributors; categories of hazards; information that can be found on a material safety data sheet (MSDS); methods of protection and detection; and the contents of our written Hazard Communication Program.
Employees shall be trained at the time of initial assignment to tasks.

Golf Cart Safety training is mandatory for employees who intend to operate golf carts on campus. The training covers policies and procedure of the Golf Cart Safety Program; an introduction to golf cart controls; inspection procedures; and proper conduct for operation. A written quiz is administered at the end of the training. All operators are required to have a valid driver's license. Operators without a driver's license must pass a golf cart driving test administered by our office.

Laboratory Safety training is mandatory for Faculty, Staff and Students who work with hazardous chemicals in laboratories. The training consists of two parts. Part 1 is a classroom lecture provided by our EHS, which includes information on the scope and purpose of the OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.1450 "Occupational Exposures to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories" as well as information about our Chemical Hygiene Plan and also includes a self-study workbook with a graded quiz. Part 2 includes on the job training conducted by the Principal Investigator, and is specific to the hazards encountered in his/her laboratory.

This course reviews one of the top work-loss issues: falls from a height due to inappropriate use of equipment (tables or chairs in place of a ladder). The course demonstrates the importance of using the proper equipment to work safely above the floor and reviews ladder safety basics, how to make safe choices, and ladder safety planning.

Laser Safety training is required for employees working in an area where a Class 3b or Class 4 laser is operated. Discussion topics include fundamentals of laser operation including basic components of a laser system; biological effects; laser classification; administrative and engineering controls; non-beam hazards; medical surveillance requirements and employee responsibilities. A written exam is administered at the end of the course.

Lockout/Tagout training is required for employees whose duties include repair or maintenance of machinery or systems that have potential for hazardous energy release. The training covers recognition of hazardous energy sources, the purpose and function of the University's Energy Control Program, and information on the safe use of energy controls. Retraining shall be conducted at least annually or whenever affected employees have a change in work assignments or a new energy hazard is presented.

Radiation Safety training is required for all employees who plan to use radioactive materials and/or x-ray producing equipment. The course will provide an overview of the fundamentals of radiation physics and radiation safety with emphasis on research at 桃花社区视频 Dominion University. Discussion topics include the concept of ionizing radiation; units of radioactivity and radiation; biological effects of radiation; exposure limits for workers and the public; radiation detection and measurement; spill and emergency response; radioactive waste disposal; techniques for handling radioactivity and state and federal regulatory requirements. A written exam is included. Annual refresher training may be required. In addition, employees, such as housekeeping and maintenance personal, who work in areas where radioactive material is used or stored, are required to attend a special radiation safety course designed for ancillary personnel.

Respiratory Protection Training is required for employees who are required to wear respirators (including N95s) to perform their job. The training covers purpose, fit, usage, maintenance and storage of respirators; respirator limitations and capabilities; use in emergency situations; inspecting, donning and doffing, using and checking the seals; and signs and symptoms of exposure. Employees must successfully complete a written quiz that is administered at the end of the training.
- Training is required prior to initial use and annually thereafter, or more often if needed.

This course provides specific guidelines to help prevent slip, trip and fall injuries, best practices for walking on slippery surfaces, precautions to avoid trip hazards and safety policies that keep employees from taking fall risks.
