Oleksandr Kravchenko, associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was selected for this year鈥檚 by the American 桃花社区视频 for Composites (ASC).

The award acknowledges a researcher and member of the composites community under the age of 35 who, in the early stages of their career, has made a noteworthy contribution to the science and technology of composite materials.

ASC president Erian Armanios praised Kravchenko鈥檚 selection, 鈥淧rofessor聽Kravchenko鈥檚 contributions to composites speak of his relentless drive to address timely, challenging research.聽This unwavering drive is eloquently expressed in his early work on measuring the thermal and curing shrinkage associated with the composites curing cycle, as well as his recent work on induced material variability and defects providing relevant insight into the variation of the failure modes in adhesively bonded joints.聽His horizons are absolutely unlimited!鈥澛

Kravchenko鈥檚 research primarily deals with lightweight polymer composite materials that can be used in structural applications, such as aerospace, automotive and infrastructure.

The award was presented at the 2023 ASC Technical Conference Awards Banquet in September at the University of Massachusetts 鈥 Lowell.
