Judith Dunkerly, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Literacy, Language and Culture and Director of the Literacy Research and Development Center in the Department of Teaching and Learning, Darden College of Education and Professional Studies at ÌÒ»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ Dominion University. Judith’s research utilizes critical theories to explore the intersection of critical literacy, social justice, and human rights to examine systemic injustice and oppression. Recently she has worked with pre-service elementary teachers to increase their advocacy and allyship for LGBTQIA+ children and families. Her research has been published in the Journal of Literacy Research, the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, The Reading Teacher, The Qualitative Research Journal, Comparative Issues in Education and Language and Literacy, as well as in several edited volumes and handbooks
