Junqing Wang, Zizheng Yan, Yang Liu, Ph.D. students in the Modeling and Simulation Engineering (MSIM) program, and Hong Yang, an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and MSIM graduate program director, won 2nd place in the third annual Hampton Roads Datathon.
Their team 鈥溙一ㄉ缜悠 SenseLane,鈥 created a data collection and analysis tool designed to assess curb ramp ADA compliance.
This year鈥檚 Datathon theme, 鈥淚nfrastructure,鈥 challenged participants to create data-driven solutions to infrastructure improvements in Hampton Roads.
The team competed against 17 other entries in the 3rd annual event, hosted by the City of Norfolk鈥檚 . They had one week to develop their project before presenting it at The Slover on October 25, 2024, during an all-day event featuring networking, project presentations and an awards ceremony.
The Hampton Roads Datathon was launched to foster regional collaboration and innovation in data science within a service-oriented environment.
