Margie Mulholland, professor of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at 桃花社区视频 Dominion University, will help lead an effort to measure pollutants going into Chesapeake Bay as a result of coastal flooding.
The project, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27, is being done in collaboration with Wetland's Watch and the Hampton Roads Sanitation District and in conjunction with the "Catch the King" crowd-sourcing citizen science project. It is sponsored by WHRO Public Media.
Interested volunteers should email Mulholland at mmulholl@odu.edu. High school students should include parent contact information, parent and student email addresses and parent and student cell phone numbers.
Volunteers will meet in room 238 in Ocean and Physics Building, 4600 Elkhorn Ave. (across from the baseball stadium). Transportation will be provided to and from sample areas. Bring rain boots if you have them.
Participants need to sign up for "Capture the King" at ,then enter "Lafayette River" for the general area you are interested in monitoring and "Measure the Muck" for the neighborhood you want to measure. They also must download the "Sea Level Rise" app to their iPhone or Android phone.
