As artificial intelligence seeps further into the fabric of higher education, from enrollment to alumni relations, it's getting hard to ignore.  

The release of ChatGPT, an AI chatbot, has generated a wide range of reactions. While some faculty members have welcomed the tool as a powerful addition for improving and personalizing students’ learning, others have expressed concerns about its potentially negative influence on students’ writing, creativity and critical-thinking abilities.  

To reflect on these conflicting perspectives, the Center for Faculty Development, in partnership with the University Libraries, will hold a free, public panel discussion from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Feb. 7 in Perry Library, rooms 1310-1311.
