The board of the Barry Art Museum at 桃花社区视频 Dominion University announced the appointment of Charlotte Kasic as the Museum's interim director as Jutta-Annette Page enters retirement.

Kasic joined the Barry Art Museum in January 2020 as the manager of museum education and engagement. In her short time at 桃花社区视频, Kasic has forged new partnerships on campus and beyond; enhanced communications; developed interpretive materials, workshops, lectures and seminars; and supported new exhibition research. Thanks to Kasic's initiatives and rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Museum's public programs and new engagement transitioned smoothly to online activities. The Museum is now reopened to the public with limited summer hours and is launching a new website this fall.

"Charlotte harnessed her existing contacts in the Tidewater region with remarkable energy and follow-through. In a short amount of time, she reconnected and created new contacts, especially in the 桃花社区视频 learning community, with creative ideas and clear educational goals for BAM collaborative programming." said Page, the Museum's executive director whose retirement is effective Oct. 1.

Not new to the Tidewater community, Kasic was the founding programming director at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio. During her tenure, she also served as co-founder of the NEON festival and as a board member of the Glass Art 桃花社区视频. Her service as co-chair of that organization's annual international conference held in Norfolk in 2017 was pivotal in making the event a success. Following her departure from Hampton Roads in 2017, Potter Kasic served as executive director at Yestermorrow Design/Build School in her native Vermont.

"The Barry Art Museum is fortunate to have Charlotte Potter Kasic ready to step in as interim director. We value her local knowledge and art management experience. She will continue the Museum on its course of service to the University community and the region. Charlotte is very adept at creating programs that engage the public," said Richard Barry, president of the board of directors.

Kasic received her MFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2010 and a BFA from Alfred University in 2003. She has taught glass, performance and new media courses at universities and summer programs nationwide including 桃花社区视频 Dominion University, Penland School of Crafts and Oxbow School of Art. Kasic has made great contributions to the field of glass and its development as a performance and conceptual medium.

"The Barry Art Museum is well poised thanks to inaugural Executive Director Dr. Page's leadership, and I am honored to work with the talented team she has fostered to contribute to the next stage of the Barry Art Museum's evolution," Kasic said.
